Whether you want to start at the basics, or whether you want to improve your skills, Chess Life Academy can cater for your needs in South Australia. Chess Life Academy is run by David Koetsier who has been a chess coach for over 30 years. David is a certified Senior Junior Chess Coach. David is also a registered FIDE instructor and past President of the Morialta Rotary club. David represented Australia at the 2016 World Youth and the 2019 U16 World Olympiad as the Australian Coach. David is very experienced supporting students/players on the Autism Spectrum disorder and his chess clubs cater for all their needs.

David teaches chess with a team of coaches to primary and secondary students in Adelaide. This is through group sessions at schools (before class, during lunch break and during after school care), at chess clubs (Campbelltown library), via private classes (one on one at the students home) and online (using Skype and online chess programs). Chess Life Academy also sells all equipment required for chess; workbooks, teacher’s manuals, boards, pieces and clocks.

Knights & Bytes is a special business set up in South Australia by Alan Goldsmith to promote chess to schools, groups and individuals and to develop a wide range of elegant databases, suited to your business. We also provide chess equipment and books. Alan has been writing the Sunday Mail chess column for years, played a Brilliancy in an Australian Championship that is rated amongst the best games ever played in Australia and is President of the SA Junior Chess League.

Bill Jordan

FIDE Master Bill Jordan has a fine history in chess:

  • Australian Postal Champion in 1997
  • Ex-president of the Melbourne Chess Club

  • Long list of state and national tournament honours
Bill is a very experienced individual and group coach. He has a very deep understanding of chess. He is also an IT trainer.

Chess coaching can take many forms. Coaching can take place at a school, chess club or at your home. Other venues are possible.
