DESCRIPTION:Zina Koodrin  \n \nThis year’s Checkmate Championships are dedicated to the memory of Zina Koodrin. Zina was a vital member of the chess community\, and for more than thirty years helped grow Chess in SA – in no small part by her incredible service as our Chess Centre manager. \nThis event runs alongside the Zina Koodrin Memorial Checkmate Open 2026. \n\n\n\nWhen:\nSaturday 11th & Sunday 12th of July\, 2026\n\n\nVenue:\nThe Chess Centre of South Australia\,\n		 10 Ranelagh Street\, Adelaide.\n\n\nEntry Fee:\nAdult – $80\n				Concession – $70 (Seniors\, Juniors\, Students\, Unemployed).Registrations given after 8pm on the 10th of July will incur a $10 late fee.\n				\n		\n\nFormat:\nSix rounds\, Swiss System. ACF & FIDE rated. FIDE Rules apply.\n\n\nEligibility:\nOpen to all players rated below 1600 on the June ACF Rating List. Unrated ACF players will be eligible if their FIDE rating is less than 1750. Players who are completely unrated will need to seek approval from the DOP.\n\n\nTime Control:\n60 minutes + 30 seconds a move.\nDefault time is 30 minutes from commencement of play.\n\n\nPrizes:\n$2\,500 minimum prize pool across both tournamentsPrize distribution will be decided based on entries.\n\n\n\nRound Times:\n\n\n\n\nSaturday:\n9:00 AM\, 12:30 PM\, 4:00 PM\n\n\nSunday:\n9:00 AM\, 12:30 PM\, 4:00 PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n		\n\n		Players may request up to two half point byes in Rounds 1 – 5 with prior approval from the arbiter.\n		\n\n\nContact:\nEnquiries to tournaments@sachess.org.au.\n\n\n\n \nRegister Online\nCurrent Entries\n\n\nEntries will be accepted at the door up to 15 minutes before the start time\, or by emailing tournaments@sachess.org.au with your details. \nInternational players must have a FIDE ID from their home federation before the start of the tournament. International players who do not have a FIDE ID before the start of the tournament will not be allowed to play. \n
