This year’s Checkmate Championships are dedicated to the memory of Gavin Haydn. A loyal and highly regarded member of the Adelaide chess community.

In a first, both the Checkmate Open and Challengers will be FIDE Rated. And will boast a prize pool of $3,000; donated on behalf of Gavin from friends, family, and the Junior Chess League.

This event runs alongside the Gavin Haydn’s Checkmate Challengers 2022.

When: Friday 15th to Sunday 17th of July, 2022.
Venue: Chess Centre of South Australia
10 Ranelagh Street, Adelaide, SA, 5000
Limited Spacing: First 80 entries in the Checkmate events are guaranteed.
Entry Fee: Adult – $100
Concession – $80 (Seniors, Juniors, Students, Unemployed).

Free entry to W/GM and W/IM applicants

Format: 6 rounds, Swiss System. FIDE rated. FIDE Rules apply.
Time Control 90 Minutes + 30 Seconds a move
Round Times:
Friday: 7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 7:00 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM
Players may request up to ONE half point bye in Rounds 1 – 5 with prior approval from the arbiter.
